Sono Gaia,

 

Attualmente studio biologia all’università. Vivo tra Zurigo e Lugano e spesso sono in movimento.

 

In tutti i luoghi che percorro la fotocamera del telefono è sempre pronta a cogliere ogni piccola sorpresa quotidiana.

 

Mi affascinano le attività delle altre persone, il formicolio di gente che si sposta insieme a me e che per pochi momenti incrocio. Ho iniziato a scattare diverse fotografie in stile ‘Street’ e ad appassionarmi sempre di più all’istante piuttosto che a scatti programmati.

 

Quando gli altri impegni mi lasciano un po’ di respiro, mi dedico alla pittura. Nel tempo, grazie  a ricerche e mostre, mi sono avvicinata alla corrente dell’espressionismo. Mi concentro soprattutto a disegnare volti, cercando di rappresentare situazioni e storie tramite le espressioni delle persone dipinte.

 

Mi piace sperimentare; utilizzo molte tecniche e superfici. Apprezzo come base il materiale riciclato e come strumento di disegno i pastelli, che permettono di accentuare e caratterizzare al meglio i lineamenti dei visi.

 

Dopo alcuni anni di produzione, le fotografie si stavano accumulando in cartelle sul computer mentre le opere in camera mia. Ho quindi deciso di creare un sito per riunire e presentare alcune delle mie creazioni.

I'm Gaia,

 

I currently study biology at university. I live between Zürich and Lugano and I am often on the move.

 

In all places I travel, my phone camera is always ready to capture every little daily surprise. I am fascinated by the activites of other people, and who I meet for a few moments. I started taking several 'Street' style photographs and become more passionate about the instant rather than planned shots.

 

When other commitiments leave me some breathing room, I dedicate myself to painting. Over time, thanks to research and exhibitions, I have become closer to the current of expressionism. I mainly focus on drawing faces, trying to represent situations and stories through the expressions of the people painted.

 

I like to expriment; I use many techiniques and surfaces. I appreciate recycled material as base and pastels as drawig tool, which allow me to accentuate and best characterize facial features.

 

After a few years of production, the photographs were accomulating in folders on the computer, while paintings in my room. I therfore decided to create a site to bring together and present some of my creations.
